alice + andrew // district millworks // los angeles, california

About a week ago, Alice and Andrew invited us to their rehearsal dinner and told us they were going to spend some time decorating and setting up at their venue, District Millworks. Within seconds of walking through the doors of the venue, we were greeted with warm smiles and open arms. We felt right at home. The next few hours were spent putting up curtains, setting up tables, and hanging air plants throughout the ceiling.

Their venue, district millworks, have never experienced a wedding. During the day, they take old wood, and mold and create furniture. It was merely a workshop but Alice and Andrew took it and transformed it into so much more. After setting up, we wiped our hands off to join their friends and family for dinner at Andrew’s favorite chinese restaurant. It’s such a great feeling knowing that you’re surrounded by people who LOVE to eat. We were satisfied by the third course but the dishes just kept coming. Getting to know their friends and families helped us understand Alice and Andrew so much more. Not only do they love food but they have strong bonds with their families.

By the next morning, we felt like family. Being my first time in California, let alone Los Angeles, we did what any sane person would do. We ate. Everywhere. Beyond the food, the sights, and the weather (yes. because Chicago is freezing!), I can honestly say that the best part of my trip to Los Angeles was attending their celebration. Thank you, for taking time out of your day to have lunch with us, for the boxes of baked goods, for welcoming us into your family and showering us with love and kindness.
